  • About the Opportunity: We seek to hire a Postdoctoral Research Fellow (PRF) through the Northeastern University-Industrial Fellowship program with Forma, LLC. The PRF will be responsible for the development of a sensor technology to detect microRNAs in biological samples. Specifically, the PRF will fabricate sensor on a paper platform and qualitatively and quantitatively test microRNA presence in normal and patient-derived samples for early disease diagnosis. Specific tasks include: - Fabrication of paper-based sensor for single and multiple microRNAs. - Preliminary evaluation of the sensor performance using commercially available biological samples. - Detection and quantification of microRNAs from patient-derived samples. - Augmentation of the paper sensing capability with smartphone apps. - Publication of manuscripts and other written materials, presentation at national and international scientific conferences and other scientific forums. QUALIFICATIONS - A PhD degree in Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related field with experience in sensor development, especially for nucleic acid-based molecules. - Preliminary experience with paper-based sensors and integration with smartphone application. - Ability to develop and deliver clear and concise presentations for both internal and external meetings. - Outstanding written and verbal communication skills. - Publications in sensor development with potential for clinical and commercial translation is not a requirement but a plus.
